The head of the southeast group made this remark after meeting with the governor of the state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Part of the statement released by Nwodo’s media aide, Emeka Atamma, on the issue read: “In the last two days, news had broken out about clashes between IPOB and the Nigerian Security agencies in Emene, Enugu State.

“Since the outbreak of this development, Ohanaeze has been involved in getting to the root cause of this development.”

The body sent its heartfelt message to victims of the killings and other Nigerians who were affected by the attack.

The Ohanaeze said: “Ohanaeze is saddened by the grave fatalities occasioned by this development and is determined to get to the root cause of this unfortunate event.

“We mourn the sad loss of all our children and other Nigerians whose lives were wasted by this sad development.”

A spokesperson for the DSS, Peter Afunanya in a statement on Sunday, August 23, said the attack occurred in Emene in Enugu state.

Afunanya described the attack as unprovoked, noting that efforts are being made to ensure the killers face justice.

“The Service lost two personnel in what was clearly an unprovoked violent attack launched by IPOB on the team,” he said.

The secret police stated that there is an ongoing investigation aimed at arresting everyone involved in this attack. The agency condoled with families of the departed officers and also prayed for the repose of their souls.

Before this, the southeast group had said people of the region were interested in producing the president in 2023 and not the pursuit of a sovereign state.

The president of the Anambra chapter of the group, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene made the statement on Tuesday, August 11, when speaking with reporters after the group’s meeting.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Election: We Will Restore Sanity, Rebuild Trust And Confidence Of Ndigbo – OYC Vows •Warns Governors And External Influence…

•Warns Governors And External Influence To Steer Clear In Ohanaeze Election

•Declares Obiozor’s Consensus Candidacy Illegal and Undemocratic

The National President of the Apex sociocultural organization of Igbo youths, Ohanaeze Youth Council(OYC) Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka have warned Southeast governors to steer clear in the forthcoming electoral process of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Comrade Igboayaka stated this in Enugu on Tuesday 24th November while addressing newsmen on the undemocratic intrusion of the election process by Southeast governors and cliques of elders who are hiding under the shade of Elders Council while their real motives is to truncate the democratic process of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for their political interest and selfish reasons.

Igboayaka stated that OYC’s earlier claim of a plot to rig the Ohanaeze Ndigbo election have manifested, as on November 23, 2020, the group of illegal political maradonas hiding under Imo Elders Council  presented whom the Imo State governor had already chosen and turning back ceremonially presenting him to  Imo State governor, the Southeast governors Northern stooge Prof. George Obiozor as their clique of consensus candidate to rig him in as the next president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to replace the outgoing Nnia Nwodo.

At the National Executive Council meeting of Ohanaeze Youth Council, it was resolved that the constituting of the electoral committee which empowered each governor in the Southeast to recommend two persons is unacceptable to Ndigbo.

That the so-called electoral committee of governors’ recommendation and undemocratic decision of the illegal constituted Imo State Elders Council led by Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu is null and void, and every decision that did not meet the general interest of over 70 million Igbos is unacceptable.

OYC advised the Iwuanyanwu-led Imo Elders Council not to engage in further individualistic and ill-motivated political interest over the election that is tantamount to bridging peace in Ohanaeze Ndigbo and in Igboland at large.

The council resolved that all the presidential candidates in Imo state should get into the election ring were their fate, popularity and credibility will be determined by a pure democratic process, noting that there is no consensus presidential candidate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Imo state at this point.

The council resolved that any bridge of constitutional framework in the process of the election shall be massively rejected by over 30 million Igbo youths and Ndigbo in general.

The council regretted that Ohanaeze Ndigbo has lost its pride, dignity, focus and respect of over 95% Igbos therefore, opted that they are determined to bring sanity, trust and confident of Ndigbo back to the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, maintaining that Ohanaeze Ndigbo election has passed the level were few microscopic political profiteers and elements stays in their parlor and draft list of incompetent characters in the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Executive Council(NEC).

The Council urged Nnia Nwodo to bury all plans of electoral fraud, and employ every democratic process for smooth process of his transition.

The Council warned that any unconstitutional meeting by non-existing group with the motive to sabotage the general interest of Ndigbo will not be tolerated by Igbo youths, stating that the youths must use every pro-active measure and resistance to respond to the so-called Elders and governors that have mortgaged the future of Igbo youths since 1999.

OYC president further stated that in 2021 Ohanaeze Ndigbo will determine the political future of Igbo youths and Ndigbo at large, stressing that whosoever that want to trade or gamble, upturn the people’s mandate will surely hit a brick wall.

Nwogha Ndubuisi Andy,

End Biafra Agitation And Embrace 2023 Presidency – Ohanaeze Tells Nnamdi Kanu

Published

on

As 2023 keep drawing closer, indicating the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second tenure, there have been debates and arguments on who should replace him and of which region the person will come from.

Many political analysts have said that in order to end secession agitation from the South-East region, they should be given the chance to rule but i am of the opinion that giving them the chance to rule shouldn’t be based on ending agitation but for the shake of fairness and equity.

For the fundamental principle of all inclusiveness and for the need to stabilize the country, the presidential ticket should be zone to the South-East by all political parties without any form of sentiment. If the ticket is zone to the SOUTH, we have south west, south south and south east which among the three southern zones, its only the South-East that have not enjoyed the seat of the president.

Before lats year’s election, some Igbo elites agitated for power shift and the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo urged them to try their luck but the timing seems not to be right, according to analysts. Even, the former president later changed his mind and supported his former vice, Atiku Abubakar.

If the time is ripe in 2023, as it were, can it be a walk over? So far, there is still a huge gap to fill. Igbo elements are silent on what they want to use power for, if it is zoned to the Southeast. Equity, justice and fairness are advertised as motives. Indeed, Igbo want to have a sense of belonging with justification. But, what principles and ideology are driving likely Igbo presidential hopeful? Will a president of Igbo extraction resolve the national question? What will be his position on national unity?

I think the answer will be for whoever lucky enough to fill the gap for the Igbos at the president seat. Though, rotation or zoning is not sacrosanct; it is a party’s arrangement among members because it is not in the Nigerian constitution. So it is up to members of the party to decide where the Presidential candidate should come from.

The APC produced Buhari for second term and by the end of the term, he has completed eight years. So it is ideal for the party to respect and stick to the zoning arrangement on ground and look for a presidential candidate from the South.

It depends on the political parties. You know the parties have zoning arrangements. But for the APC, since the North-West produced the President this time around, next is supposed to be the South.

For the PDP, since there is zoning, they should zone theirs to maybe South, Atiku’s running mate was from South-East. So going by zoning arrangement, the South (South-West or South-East) is supposed to produce the next president. And then the Vice President should now come from the North-East or North-Central.

Since 1999, South-West, North-West and South-South have produced presidents, conventionally, power rotates for equity and justice as implied in the Principles of Federal Character.

Therefore, in 2023, passionate consideration should be accorded the South-East as the only zone in the Southern region that has yet to produce a president

Buhari’s Speech Empty, Disappointing And So Annoying – Ohanaeze Ndigbo

Published

on

Ohanaeze  Ndigbo has described president Buhari’s speech as empty, disappointing, so annoying, saying that the speech was in fact an insult on the sensibilities of Nigerians.

Reacting to the speech, Ohanaeze, through, the Media Adviser to Chief Nnia Nwodo, its National President; Emeka Attamah, said the President cannot deceive Nigerians any longer.

The only new thing was his expressing a desire for a peaceful, united nation. But, how can you ensure peace in a divided country?

“How can he talk of unity in a country that the only persons qualified to hold and enjoy federal appointments in the country are only Fulani?

“The speech was an insult to the sensibilities of Nigerians other than Fulani. Who is deceiving who?

“He still has a window of opportunity to ameliorate the situation by rescinding some of his decisions and ensuring a more balanced administration”, Ohanaeze said.
