The former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has agreed with former president Olusegun Obasanjo over his statement that Nigeria is becoming a failed state under President Muhammadu Buhari.
Fayose stated this on Saturday night, September 12, during an Instagram live chat with the popular journalist, Dele Momodu.
The former governor said though he usually does not agree with Obasanjo on national issues, all that the former president said of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari are becoming reality.
He lamented the insecurity and rising debt profile of the country just as he claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has performed more terribly in five years more than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 16 years.
His words: “Of all the Presidents, I don’t like Obasanjo ways, I tell you the truth; I don’t like his ways at all. Me and him we are not on the same page but Obasanjo is the only one-time Nigerian President that has helped this country here and there.
Speaking further, the former governor said Nigeria will not progress until the electoral process is reformed.
“That was why what Obasanjo said today (Saturday), in a way, I agree with him. We don’t normally agree but I agree with him.”
“This APC in five years is dastardly, more terrible than the PDP in 16 years,” he added.
The former president warned that Nigeria is fast drifting towards a failed state under the administration of President Buhari.
However, the presidency has also berated Obasanjo over his statement, describing the former president as Divider-in-Chief.
A statement signed by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu on Sunday, September 13, accused Obasanjo of attempts to divide the nation.
2023: Northern Groups Drums Support For Another Goodluck Jonathan Presidency
According to the newspaper, groups in the region believe that if Jonathan becomes president, northern interest will benefit and are now trying to build the momentum to return him as president.
An unnamed source privy to the plan by the northern groups reportedly said the support for Jonathan has a strong chance of getting the backing from both the northern and southeastern parts of the country.
The source who was not named said:
“My brother, you know there is no way the North will support the agitation of the Southeast for the presidency, but we all know that if Jonathan comes out that the Southeast will not oppose him,” a source who is not directly involved but privy to the plot disclosed.”
The source reportedly said the northern groups behind the plan are trying to get Governor Nyesom Wike who is considered an ally of the former president to support the idea.
However, it should be noted that Goodluck Jonathan in the past has denied any interest in contesting for the presidency.
Onyeka said the entire southeast must unite to achieve the 2023 presidential ambition. The APC chieftain said if the party can get it right in Anambra, the southeast will unite for the common goal in 2023.

Edo : “Buhari Warns Against Rigging Of The Election”
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday reiterated his commitment to credible elections.
He warned against violence and lack of fairness in Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State.
Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are the leading candidates. Twelve others are also contesting.
The stakes are high given the fierce contest.
The President warned electoral officials and security agents to be neutral while carrying out their duties.
He also warned political parties and politicians to behave responsibly as they go into the election.
The President, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said he is committed to bequeathing the culture of free and fair elections. He said, however, that, the activities of those on the field would go a long way to determine outcomes.
In a message to voters, political parties, election officials and security personnel, the President reiterated his stance.
He said that: “I am passionately committed to free and fair elections, but my own commitment is not enough if other actors at ground zero refuse to abide by the rules.
“I want to see democratic standards in the country raised higher at every level, but these cannot be achieved when politicians resort to do or die methods to gain power by any means or machination.
“The do-or-die mentality to politics is a threat to free and fair elections because the actors are more focused on winning than caring about a fair outcome that reflects the Will of the people.”
Buhari appealed to political parties and their candidates to behave peacefully and respect law and order. He also advised election officials and security agents “to remain neutral to ensure free and fair elections and avoid any action(s) capable of compromising the integrity of the elections.”
